Re-Collect Specific Dates
Previous Topic  Next Topic

GemPro provides the ability to re-collect a specified date or a group of dates.  This feature is usually only needed should you experience a break in transmission when collecting your outstanding data.  Although this is not common, it is inconvenient when it occurs making this feature extremely useful when needed.

The procedure to re-collect specific dates is as follows.

  1. Connect to your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
  2. Close your charting software or any charts that may be open.
  3. If the Portfolio grid is open, then close the grid to show the main menu list.  Click the I-Net menu item and select Re-Collect Specific Dates from the drop down list.
  4. Select the Single Day or Group of Days option.
  5. Enter the Day (or Start and End Dates) to collect.  Please use the down or up arrows next to the date box to scroll the dates forward or backward, as this ensures the date format is retained.  Also, please ensure the dates entered are actual trading days and not a weekend date or public holiday.
  6. Click the Collect Specific Dates button.

The yellow progress bar will turn blue as your outstanding data is downloaded.  After the data download has completed a screen showing a list of the files collected will be displayed.

After a short pause, as indicated by the red timer bar, the Data Distribution process should commence automatically if your System parameter for Auto Distribute is set to ‘Yes’.  (Auto Distribute is set to ‘Yes’ by default when you install GemPro)

If, however, the Auto Distribute paramater is set to ‘No’ then you will need to click the Distribute Now button to commence the distribution process.  Please refer to the Auto Distribute Option if you require more information.

If you do not want to distribute the data at this time then you can either cancel or pause the distribution process by clicking the appropriate button.

NOTE:

There are three styles for data collection.  The default if FTP.  However,  you also have the option of selecting HTTP or the WEB.  Generally the web opion should only be used if you are experiencing problems with the other two methods and only when you are advised to do so by your data service provider.

Also, there are four servers from which you may collect your data.  The cycle option is selected by default so that if there is a problem with any one server the communication automatically cycles to the next.  This can be turned off if you wish to use one particular server exclusively.
