Downloading Your Outstanding Data
Previous Topic  Next Topic

The GemPro data servers keep a record of the last date you collected, therefore the procedure to collect your data is the same whether your outstanding data is for one day or more.  There is generally a limit of around 3 months for collecting outstanding data, as our servers do not store the daily data files indefinitely.

The procedure to collect your outstanding daily data is as follows.

  1. Connect to your ISP (Internet Service Provider).  If you have call waiting enabled, we recommend that you it before collecting your data.
  2. Close your charting software or any charts that may be open.
  3. Click the Collect Daily Data via Internet   icon on the main toolbar to show the following screen.
  4. Click the Collect Daily Data button.

The yellow progress bar will turn blue as your outstanding data is downloaded.  After the data download has completed a screen showing a list of the files collected will be displayed.

After a short pause, as indicated by the red timer bar, the Data Distribution process should commence automatically if your System parameter for Auto Distribute is set to ‘Yes’.  (Auto Distribute is set to ‘Yes’ by default when you install GemPro)

If, however, the Auto Distribute paramater is set to ‘No’ then you will need to click the Distribute Now button to commence the distribution process.  Please refer to the Auto Distribute Option if you require more information.

If you do not want to distribute the data at this time then you can either cancel or pause the distribution process by clicking the appropriate button.

NOTE:

There are three styles for data collection.  The default if FTP.  However,  you also have the option of selecting HTTP or the WEB.  Generally the web opion should only be used if you are experiencing problems with the other two methods and you are advised to do so by your data service provider.

Also, there are four servers from which you may collect your data.  The cycle option is selected by default so that if there is a problem with any one server the communication automatically cycles to the next.  This can be turned off if you wish to use one particular server exclusively.
